The S100 IHC test is an immunohistochemical stain used to detect the presence of S100 protein, a calcium-binding protein found in cells derived mainly from the neural crest (such as Schwann cells, melanocytes, and dendritic cells).
The S100 marker is used primarily to help identify and support diagnosis of tumors and lesions originating from or showing differentiation toward these cell types.
